The vampire king, Dorian, left his homeland and moved to London to pull the hunters away from his family and land. Being an aristocrat in London at this time means Balls, lots of dancing and just making yourself known. Women searching for husbands and men looking for a good woman to bed. Victoria is one of those women looking for a husband but she has good reasons to need one soon, her parents died and she was left alone to raise her younger sister. When she moved in with her aunt, she was given a very short time to find a husband or she would lose her sister for good. Victoria is pulled to Dorian but fights it every step of the way. Denying the pull is exactly what Dorian doesn't do when he first meets Victoria. He is very much obsessed with her and wants to do only two things with her, have sex with her and feed from her. Dorian soon learns that he can't do either even though that's all he thinks about. Dorian agrees to marry Victoria but she doesn't know he is a vampire, when she finds out her reaction not only surprises him but herself also. Hunters are closing in on them plus the people from his kingdom. When the threat gets too close Dorian and Victoria both realize what they have is right and true.
I love everything vampire and this book did not disappoint. The story is action packed and full of the tug of war love that once you let go you know you did the right thing by giving your heart away.
